ASU 365 Community Union Connects Communities Through Grads to Golf at Sparky’s Fairway

On March 6, 2026, law students, alumni, professors and community members gathered at Sparky’s Fairway for an energetic and meaningful evening that marked the culmination of the Grads to Golf program. Set inside Mountain America Stadium, the event served as a celebration of everything students had worked toward by bringing classroom lessons into a real-world setting.

Sparky’s Fairway is ASU 365 Community Union’s immersive driving range experience located inside Mountain America Stadium, where guests hit golf balls onto Frank Kush Field while enjoying food, drinks and views of the stadium. During its seasonal run, the space is transformed into a unique venue that blends entertainment, athletics and community engagement.

For some students, this was their first visit to Sparky’s Fairway or even their first time at the stadium. Their faces lit up when they saw Frank Kush Field painted like a driving range rather than the usual football yard markings. As guests made their way to the elevated platform where they would tee off, there was a mix of excitement and nervousness. This program had been preparing them for this exact moment.

Grads to Golf is a program created by the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law that transforms the golf course into a classroom. The program introduces students to the game of golf while emphasizing the importance of networking, relationship-building and conducting business in non-traditional environments. What began as a program supporting female master’s graduate students has grown as interest expanded, reflecting the program’s relevance and impact.

Through Grads to Golf, students gained first-hand experience in what it feels like to network with industry members and skilled professionals on the golf course at Sparky’s Fairway. It was nerve-wracking, but judging by the smiling faces, smooth backswings and exchanged handshakes, they quickly grew comfortable and the experience was a success.

Additionally, throughout the run of Sparky’s Fairway, the guest experience was elevated with the Hole-in-One Challenge testing golfers’ skills by challenging them to hit targets on the field, with half of the proceeds benefiting Grads to Golf. Through this initiative, ASU 365 Community Union raised funds to support instructor retention, practice opportunities and expanded access for students, helping ensure the program’s long-term sustainability. As golf and business continue to be more intertwined than ever, Grads to Golf remains a meaningful program to support.

ASU 365 Community Union plays a vital role in creating spaces where learning, connection and innovation intersect. By supporting Grads to Golf at Sparky’s Fairway, ASU 365 Community Union furthered its mission of Connecting Communities™ through innovative and impactful experiences.
